Plenary address by Prof. Dr. Monica Heller (U Toronto) and Prof. Dr. Allan Bell (Auckland UT). Reception hosted by the Center for the Study of Language and Society. |
7 July The Art of Language. Programme starts 09:30. Venue: Forum, Paul Klee Center. | Morning: Academic forum chaired by Prof. Dr. Ana Deumert (U Cape Town) and Prof. Dr. Tommaso Milani (U Gothenburg). Lunch. Afternoon: Public lectures by Prof. Dr. Theo van Leeuwen (UT Sydney and U Southern Denmark) and Prof. Dr. Adam Jaworski (U Hong Kong). Dinner in Bern. |
8 July The Art of Goffman. Programme starts 09:30. Venue: Kuppelraum, University of Bern’s main building (Hauptgebäude). | Morning: Panel discussion with Prof. Dr. Kira Hall (U Colorado, Boulder), Prof. Dr. Rodney Jones (Reading U), Prof. Dr. Ben Rampton (King’s College, U London), and Prof. Dr. Joanna Thornborrow (U Bretagne Occidentale). Lunch. Afternoon: Panel discussion continues. Dinner (with coach ride) on Lake Thun. |
9 July Programme starts 10:00. Venue: Room 220, University of Bern’s Mittelstrasse building. | Round-table discussion followed by doctoral workshop with guest instructors Prof. Dr. Joanna Thornborrow (U Bretagne Occidentale) and Prof. Dr. Marcel Burger (U Lausanne). Optional afternoon outing to the Bernese Oberland with an early-evening apéro riche in Wilderswil. |
